Planet Neptune


Happened to check in on Maud Newton's site this morning and saw a photo there with a link to the site it came from, Beyond Monochrome, put together by photographer Walker Pickering. There are some wonderful images in the archives, including this pretty amazing one, which looks to me a lot less like an aquarium than a dystopian fish-filled sky:



Pickering works in a variety of formats, and he's got a terrific touch and a sense of drama:



There's something about both these photos, and about a lot of the others on his site, that is more than reportorial. There's a feel to them, as if a question hanging in the air, and all of the answers are right there, if ony we could fully apprehend them.
